This position is at the North Berrien Senior Center in Coloma, Michigan.

Serves as a professional member of the senior center staff utilizing professional nursing expertise to assess the needs of the aging population, provide education and clinical guidance, and act as advocate for the senior in the health care system.
1. Provide health education by: a. Assessing individual health needs and interests. b. Creating and providing updated educational material on health issues . c. Organizing, coordinating, and promoting health education programs.d. Providing screenings-blood glucose, cardiovascular, colorectal, blood pressure.e. Conducting health fairs, monthly health education programs, and other events to increase health awareness. f. Conducting medication "brown bag" reviews with pharmacist. 2. Counsel and advise clients dealing with life style changes, adjusting to disease, coping with chronic illness, and other health concerns.3. Act as a liaison between the Center and the client by visiting senior center members in hospitals, nursing homes, the home-bound, bereaved, and families in crisis.4. Act as client health advocate with physician, health care system, family, church, and parish nurse, if available. 5. Direct clients to appropriate resources, such as Prescription Drug Assistance Program, and other community resources when their needs are beyond the skill or scope of the senior center nurse.6. Establish and train volunteers for a "Safety Calling" Program.7. Implement an "Absence Check-Back" Program.8. Provide other non-invasive health care as needed, followed by appropriate resource referral. 9. Complete monthly reports and statistics for Lakeland Hospital and the Senior Center Board, without breach of confidentiality. 10. Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.

Must possess affective skills (self-motivation, positive attitude toward learning, tolerance of ambiguity, flexibility and innovation).
Must maintain proper training certifications: BLS and First Aid
Must be competent in operating audio-visual equipment and computers.
Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
